Cody Brown is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and educator who works across a wide spectrum of musical idioms. Cody received his BA (2008) in Jazz Performance from Purchase College where he was a student of the legendary jazz drummer, Kenny Washington; and world-renowned drum educator, John Riley.

In addition to his teachers at Purchase, Cody has been a percussion student of Jeff Ballard and Dan Weiss; and a composition student of Steve Lehman. After school, upon moving to Brooklyn, Cody was given the opportunity to perform and tour with the acclaimed Steve Lehman Octet and Trio, as well as perform the world premiere of Steve Lehman's Impossible Flow with the International Contemporary Ensemble, a performance praised by The New York Times as "...a small miracle.” Cody later performed the world premier of Du Yun’s Angel’s Bone, a piece which has since received the Pulitzer Prize.

Cody has had the honor of recording, touring and performing with some of the most respected musicians in the world (Herbie Hancock, Steve Lehman, the International Contemporary Ensemble, Du Yun, David Virelles, Jonathan Finlayson and many more); and at some of the world’s most iconic stages and studios (Carnegie Hall, The Whitney Museum, The Wexner Center for the Arts, The Mann Center, and many more). More recently, Cody has been working on numerous projects in his Brooklyn-based studio as both a session musician and producer; alongside teaching and continually creating/recording music of his own.
